The role of an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion (EOMHC) is of great importance in our church community. They assist the celebrant in distributing Holy Communion to the faithful during the liturgy, often transferring the Eucharist from the Tabernacle to the altar and purifying the sacred vessels after Communion in the absence of a Deacon.
An additional function of the EOMHC is to take Communion to the homebound. Special training is conducted for this function to prepare the volunteers and ensure they understand the additional requirements. Two EOMHCs are required when visiting the homebound.
