Becoming Catholic is one of life’s most profound and joyous experiences. Some are blessed enough to receive this great gift while they are infants, and, over time, they recognize the enormous grace that has been bestowed on them. Others enter the Catholic fold when they are older children or adults. This tract examines the joyful process by which one becomes a Catholic.
You may be baptized in another faith or you may just be beginning to ask questions. Wherever you are in your faith journey, we are here to pray with you, answer questions, share with you and be a part of your walk-in faith. If you are interested in becoming Catholic or just want to find out more, please submit a OCIA FORM for more information.
The formation of adults and a process by which they are initiated into the Roman Catholic Church is known as the Order of Catholic Initiation of Adults (OCIA). The process is designed for all persons, regardless of religious background, who genuinely seek, by God’s grace, to live their lives in the distinctive Catholic Christian faith.
Weekly OCIA classes are called Catechesis or teaching. The classes, which are conducted over several months, cover all aspects of the Catholic faith. At St. Rita’s, both the unbaptized and baptized Christians from different faith traditions participate in the same OCIA class. The OCIA classes start in the Fall, usually in August.
Those who continue this path and choose to complete the journey receive the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil.
